HIST/RELG 216: The History of Christianity

HIST/RELG 216: The History of Christianity looks at the origin, spread and development of one of the major world religions from its origin in Palestine to the present. Focusing on lived religious experience rather than rather than theology, the class examines the interplay between culture and religion, especially as Christianity moved from its origins in the Middle East to became the dominant religion of Europe through the Middle Ages and then spread to other parts of the globe after 1500.
HIST/RELG 216 will fulfill ACE Outcome 5: Use knowledge, historical perspectives, analysis, interpretation, critical evaluation, and the standards of evidence appropriate to the humanities to address problems and issues.
