The Department of Classics and Religious Studies invites you to participate in a table reading of a new English version of Aeschylus’ Agamemnon by Thomas E. Jenkins (Trinity University), adapted to be ancient in pathos but contemporary in lingo. The first play in Aeschylus’ Oresteia trilogy, Agamemnon stages the dramatic return of King Agamemnon to Greece after the Trojan War — and into the trap of his wife, Queen Clytemnestra, still grieving from the sacrifice of her child, Iphigenia. Come enjoy (well, sort of enjoy) one of the most harrowing plays of antiquity, filled with murder, mayhem, and even cannibalism. The perfect date for Valentine’s Day! Feel free to bring your S.O.
