Hello Classics and Religious Studies Majors,

Welcome to the Fall 2025 semester! For all new students, welcome to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Classics and Religious Studies! For all returning students who weren't on campus this summer, welcome back!

Please know that I am here to make the journey to your undergraduate degree a successful one. I want to see you succeed academically, professionally, and personally, so please don't hesitate to contact me or to meet with me!

My name is Taylor Scholl, and I'm the academic advisor for Classics and Religious Studies. My office is in 1041 Oldfather Hall (turn left when you get off the elevator). You can schedule at https://go.unl.edu/cas_taylor.

When scheduling an appointment with me, please include a comment about why we are meeting.

I am available for in-person or Zoom meetings in 45-minute blocks during the weekdays. I also have Zoom drop-in advising on Wednesday mornings (10 a.m.-12 p.m.) and Thursday afternoons (1-3 p.m.). Advising Meeting Expectations
The College of Arts and Sciences has compiled some information for Academic Advising, and I encourage you to look through the information each semester. There are also some expectations on the page for what you can expect from your advisor and what is expect from you as the student.

You can expect your advisor to

  • Get to know you and support your overall success and well-being
  • Be knowledgeable about your degree requirements
  • Help you develop a degree plan, and work with you to refine it
  • Challenge you to gain experience and plan for life after graduation.
Your advisor expects you to
  • Visit every semester and be honest and open about how things are going in and out of the classroom
  • Come prepared with questions after checking your Degree Audit, the Academic Calendar, and the Undergraduate Catalog.
  • Build a degree plan thoughtfully and revise it with your advisor. Consider any 2nd majors or minors that you are interested in.
  • Try new things, meet new people, and challenge yourself
