FYRE seeking faculty to host students for research program

UCARE’s First Year Research Experience (FYRE) program has capacity to engage additional student-mentor pairs this Spring semester and is seeking faculty who are interested in hosting a FYRE student (through April 30) in their research efforts. For more information about FYRE, click the link below.

To be eligible for FYRE, a student should be in their first year at UNL and have federal work study as part of their financial aid package. Students are matched with faculty mentors and work 5-10 hours per week in a research or creative activities job under the guidance of their mentor.

Participation in FYRE prepares students to apply to UCARE or further engage in research during their academic career.

Please email Justina Clark (jclark17@unl.edu) a brief description of the tasks and responsibilities for your potential FYRE student as well as any preferred qualifications for a student worker. If faculty already have a student in mind but are not sure if they qualify, they can also let Justina know the student’s name and she will follow up accordingly.

Faculty who are unable to host a FYRE student in Spring 2021 but are interested in participating in the 2021-22 academic year can submit their job description at https://research.unl.edu/events/event.php?eventID=4591 through May 15. Placements for the 2021-22 FYRE cohort will take place over Summer 2021.

Contact Justina Clark (jclark17@unl.edu) if you have questions.
