The COE Achievements features awards, fellowships, honors and recognition achieved by College of Engineering faculty, staff and students. This list does not include major news or feature articles published and/or linked to in this or previous editions of The COE Update.
This is not a comprehensive list, though we strive to share as many of these achievements as we receive. If you would like to see an achievement recognized in The COE Update, please send all pertinent information to Karl Vogel at kvogel2@unl.edu or JS Engebretson at jengebretson2@unl.edu.

Engineering Student Services has hired two new staff members - Yajaira López-Villa, as academic advisor on City Campus, and Braxton Bellamy as recruitment coordinator. López-Villa started May 3 and Bellamy is scheduled to begin May 25.
A memorial service for Denver Schmadeke will be held Friday, May 21, at 10:30 a.m. at Westwood Church, 13056 Atwood Ave., in Omaha. Schmadeke, a College of Engineering faculty member, industrial engineering alumnus, and administrator of the Fire Protection Technology program, died Dec. 26, 2020.
The College of Engineering is celebrating heritage and nationally recognized months. May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and we feature the stories of faculty members Leen-Kiat Soh and Yongfeng Lu and students Xuan Le and Emily Ritzdorf. Continue reading…
