University staff awards nominations due Tuesday

Dear Colleagues,

I want to bring your attention to several University awards below for staff. These awards are administered by the UNL Academic Affairs office. Please nominate your deserving colleagues for these awards.

  1. The University of Nebraska Kudos Staff Award recognizes outstanding service and “going above the call of duty.” NU Administration coordinates the award among the four campuses and invites recipients to a future Board of Regents meeting. The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor is able to select one recipient each year from nominations received from the Academic Affairs colleges and reporting units and awards the recipient $850 in addition to the $150 awarded by NU Administration. Eligibility is limited to full-time managerial/professional and office/service staff.

  2. The Exceptional Excellence Award is a $1,000 award presented in recognition of an individual’s outstanding support of a faculty member. This nomination must come from a faculty member rather than an administrator.

  3. The James O’Hanlon Academic Leader Award is a $1,000 award presented each year to honor an academic leader who has demonstrated exceptional abilities to lead, serve, inspire, and collaborate on the academic goals at the University. The award is named for Dr. James O’Hanlon, who has effectively served the University in academic leadership positions. Nominations are limited to full-time faculty or staff.

  4. The Nancy Kenny Academic Business Leader Award is a $1,000 award presented each year to honor a leader who has demonstrated exceptional abilities to collaborate on and led with the utmost integrity the academic business matters at the University. The award is named for Nancy Kenny, who served the University in business leadership positions across the campus. Nominations are limited to full-time faculty or staff.

  5. The Dr. Charles Riedesel Outstanding Academic Advising Award is a $1,000 award presented each year to outstanding advising of undergraduate students. The award is named for Dr. Charles Riedesel, Chief Undergraduate Advisor in Computer Science and Engineering. Nominations are limited to full-time faculty or staff with job descriptions that include undergraduate advising.

Nomination materials are due Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022. Nomination are being collected through Microsoft Forms; please be prepared to upload materials as one PDF: https://go.unl.edu/awards22.
