The Midwest Roadside Safety Facility (MwRSF) is hosting a research showcase open house, including a full-scale crash test on Friday, Sept. 9 from noon to 4 p.m.
The event will begin at noon with a reception in room 136 of the Prem S. Paul Research Center at Whittier School to learn about the ongoing research at MwRSF, discuss collaborative research and employment opportunities, and talk with MwRSF faculty and staff. Current and prospective students especially are encouraged to learn more about ways to gain valuable skills and knowledge in this field.
In addition to the research being displayed at Whittier, guests can learn about the equipment used at MwRSF and the various types of research, expertise and instrumentation used at the facility.
Shortly after 1 p.m., MwRSF researchers and guests will travel to the MwRSF Outdoor Proving Grounds – 4630 NW 36th St., on the western edge of Lincoln Municipal Airport – to view a live, full-scale crash test. Transportation to the test site and back to Whittier will be available. All crash test attendees are requested to wear closed-toed shoes to the test site for safety protocols.
