Software Carpentry workshop set for Jan. 12-13

The Holland Computing Center will host a Software Carpentry Workshop Jan. 12-13 via Zoom.

This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools, including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems.
Topics covered include:

  • Automating tasks using the Unix shell
  • Software Version Control (Git)
  • Introduction to Programming using Python

Participants must have a laptop with a Mac, Linux, or Windows operating system (not a tablet, Chromebook, etc.) that they have administrative privileges on. They should have a few specific software packages installed (go to https://unlhcc.github.io/2023-01-12-UNL-online/#setup).
