From Dean Lance C. Pérez:
As of July 14, 2023 the College of Engineering is discontinuing the weekday NE-Ride bus service between our programs in Lincoln and Omaha. This service is being halted due to contracted costs doubling ahead of the 2023-24 academic year, as well as steeply rising costs and impending budget challenges to the University of Nebraska system.
Please know that we are committed to providing access to our programs and facilities in Lincoln and Omaha for our students, faculty and staff. We are working to find other cost-effective ways to accommodate our engineering community and will keep you informed as we determine additional solutions.
We began the free shuttle service in 2015 to support cross-collaboration in courses, research and cocurricular activities between our programs on City Campus and Scott Campus, as well as at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. The service was previously reduced from three round trips daily during the academic year to two in response to increased expenses resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic.
