The College of Engineering’s online Master of Engineering Management (MEM) bolstered its reputation as one of the best programs in the nation, now also ranked in the 2025 U.S. News & World Report Engineering Management Specialty Ranking. It is the first time Nebraska’s MEM is included in this ranking, earning the #11 spot among the Best Online Master’s in Engineering Management Programs.

The MEM program maintained its top five positions in two other categories: #5 in the Overall Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs, and #4 in Best Online Master’s in Engineering Programs for Veterans.

For rankings in this category U.S. News only uses reputation ratings received from peer institutions that identify the best programs in engineering management. To be included, a school must have received at least five ratings from peer institutions and ranked in the main online engineering listings.

“It is a great honor to join the other prestigious and reputable institutions ranked in this category. We are excited for the validation from our peers with expertise in engineering management who recognize the quality and value of our program,” said Jena Asgarpoor, director of the MEM program and professor of practice. “We have created and continue to expand a quality engineering management graduate degree of value for our alumni and other practicing professionals worldwide.”

The online MEM program, offered in eight-week sessions, collaborates with the University of Nebraska - Lincoln online Master of Business Administration program and offers diverse courses in engineering management leading to a professional practice-oriented degree for working engineers. The curriculum combines business acumen with technical operational knowledge and skills to effectively lead engineering and technical people, projects and teams.

The web-based, 30-credit-hour program is offered 100 percent asynchronously and is ideal for working professionals in engineering, technology, and science industries, Asgarpoor said. MEM is one of only 12 programs internationally certified by the American Society for Engineering Management for exceeding rigorous standards and for its excellence in curriculum, program delivery and administration.
