VEX Robotics Competition - Volunteers Needed for Saturday
My name is Karson Swartzbaugh, and I am the Kiewit Hall event planning lead for UNL VEXU Robotics. We are hosting the largest high school VEX competition in Nebraska with 72 teams from four different states on Saturday (Feb. 1). I just learned that 50 expected volunteers are no longer able to volunteer for the event. With the size of our event, we are currently unable to run an event without additional volunteers.
Our event has a variety of roles spread out from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., none of which require past robotics experience. We have roles for young children like resetting the field to judging for those who want to interview the teams and learn about their robots.
Judges are one of the two vital roles we need for our event and would be a great fit for professors, UNL staff, and spouses alike. Judges will interview teams, deliberate with other judges, and help decide the teams that will receive both a custom trophy and a custom banner to take home. Awards deal with team merit, design process, note booking, build quality, programming ability, and more facets of robotics design.
Regardless of the role, we will have morning coffee, pop, snacks, and Valentinos for lunch for all volunteers.
