In the latest installment of this recurring feature, which appears in the COE Update on the third Monday of each month, we recognize some of the recent accomplishments, awards and honors earned by College of Engineering faculty, staff and students:

  • NASCAR honors Dean Sicking and Midwest Roadside Safety Facility team, which developed the SAFER barrier system, during the auto racing circuit’s Hall of Fame weekend, Feb. 6-7. https://go.unl.edu/odkm
  • Jae Sung Park received the Rising Star of Mechanical Engineering from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and was honored at the 2024 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition in November 2024 in Portland, Oregon. https://go.unl.edu/ejct
  • Josephine Lau and David Yuill were elevated to ASHRAE Fellows at the organization’s 2025 Winter Conference in Orlando, Florida and a Durham School student team – Benjamin Bugenhagen, Katie Frey, Reece Fuchs, Solanda Honda, and Will Randby – earned first place in the HVAC System Category in the 2024 Student Design Competition. https://go.unl.edu/z2pe
