Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (Girl Day) is Saturday, Feb. 23 at Nebraska Innovation Campus.

The second-annual Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day will take place on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Nebraska Innovation Campus from 9 a.m.-noon.

The event will include multiple hands-on breakout sessions and a STEM playground, community and student organization booths and fun for all ages.

Parents/caregivers will receive information on how to best support their children in the field of engineering. Registration for the event is still open.

What began as the vision of Sally Wei, director of Engineering Education and Outreach, has evolved into a large-scale, collaborative event to encourage girls into the engineering field. The free event has nearly 400 registrants of girls from grades 3-12.

The event takes place during E-Week (Engineer’s Week), and is a part of the DiscoverE Girl Day
program.

The event is co-sponsored by the College of Engineering, along with the Lincoln Children’s Museum, Duncan Aviation, Junior League of Lincoln, LI-COR Biosciences, Fat Brain Toys, Flint Hills Resources, Koch Companies, Lincoln Electric System, Molex, Olsson and Society of Women Engineers-Eastern Nebraska.

Engineers from these community-focused businesses and other organizations will be volunteering at the
event.
