Grace Hopper Celebration

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering is organizing a team of students to attend the Virtual Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), to be held September 29–October 3, 2020, as part of our UNL Husker Hoppers Program.

The Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing (GHC) is a series of conferences designed to bring the research and career interests of women in computing to the forefront. It is the world's largest gathering of women in computing. The celebration, named after computer scientist Grace Hopper, is organized by the Anita Borg Institute for Women and Technology and the Association for Computing Machinery.

This year, we are seeking applications from students (both undergraduate and graduate) to attend the GHC. Preference will be given to those who have not previously been supported, but those who have attended before and would like to assist with planning and organization are also encouraged to apply as leaders. If selected, a student will be sponsored by the Department (cost of registration). Students who attended the GHC have reported very positive experiences including establishing contacts with industry, learning about gender and diversity issues in the world of computing, gaining insights into excelling in the area of computing, building new friendships with peers from other institutions, and getting inspired by the leaders and role models in both academia and industry. We thus encourage you to apply.

The details of the application can be found at https://forms.gle/xaoxXYpfpfH5sRGY8.

The deadline of the application is August 19, 2020, 11:59 p.m.

If you have questions about the GHC or the application, please feel free to contact Dr. Ann Koopmann (akoopmann1@unl.edu), Dr. Brittany Duncan (bduncan@unl.edu), and Dr. Leen-Kiat Soh (lksoh@cse.unl.edu).
