Review fall safety procedures, changes

Avery Hall
Avery Hall

In-person instruction for the Fall 2020 semester began on Monday, August 24. Now that you've returned to campus, be sure to review the announcements and changes the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has implemented to ensure your safety:

• A face covering is required at all times when indoors on the UNL campus, with very few exceptions as outlined at https://covid19.unl.edu/face-covering-policy. If you forget your face covering, disposable surgical-style face asks are available upon request in Avery 27, Avery 203, and Avery 256.

• Avery Hall entrances are unlocked during the day for access to classrooms, computer labs, offices, and other spaces. Please use doors on the east side of the building whenever possible, entering through the southeast doors and exiting through the northeast doors. The ADA accessible entrance on the south side of the building is available as an entrance and exit for those who need it. This door on the south side of Avery Hall is also the designated exit for classrooms in the southwest corner of Avery Hall (106, 108, 109, 110, 111, and 112).

• The CSE department office in Avery 256 is staffed during business hours for appointments, deliveries, and urgent issues but will remain locked to ensure social distancing. Call 402-472-2401 for assistance between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and someone can come to the door to assist you. If your issue is not time sensitive, please email info@cse.unl.edu.

• For undergraduate advising questions, email cseadvising@unl.edu or schedule an appointment with an academic advisor (Ann Koopmann, Jenna Huttenmaier, or Jarrett Ramsey) online via MyPlan. Advising appointments will be conducted online via Zoom during the fall semester. MyPlan can be found from Canvas or by clicking on the MyPlan link from my.unl.edu.

• The physical CSE Student Resource Center space in Avery 12 is closed this semester, but assistance will be available remotely through Canvas in the CSE Student Resource Center course and through Zoom at go.unl.edu/cse-src-zoom.

• The CSE Systems Administration office in Avery 27 is staffed during business hours for appointments and technical support with issues that require in-person assistance, but will remain locked to ensure social distancing. Knock loudly or call 402-472-7757 for assistance, and someone can come to the door to assist you. If your issue is not time sensitive, please email support@cse.unl.edu, as the majority of our team is working remotely.

• The Schorr Center is locked and is not open to the public at this time, as most of the staff who office there are working remotely. Faculty, staff, and students with offices/labs in the Schorr Center have card access to reach their assigned spaces. Students and other visitors who have an appointment with someone at the Schorr Center should call them when they arrive. Faculty and staff office telephone numbers can be found in the UNL Directory at directory.unl.edu.
