Computer Science and Engineering assistant professor Hoang-Dung Tran has been named the recipient of this year’s IEEE Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical Systems Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award.

The IEEE TCCPS Outstanding Ph.D. Dissertation Award recognizes outstanding Ph.D. dissertations that have contributed significantly to the advancement of theory and/or applications in cyber-physical systems. The award consists of a plaque and a citation.

Tran earned the award for his thesis, ‘‘Verification of Learning-enabled Cyber-Physical Systems,’’ which examined “the application of star sets in the scalable verification of neural networks in cyber-physical systems.’’

The IEEE Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical Systems aims at promoting interdisciplinary research and education in the field of cyber-physical systems (CPS). CPS addresses the close interaction and deep integration between the cyber components such as sensing systems and the physical components such as varying environment and energy systems.

Congratulations to Dr. Tran on this excellent achievement!
