CSCE990: Multi-Access Edge Computing
Instructor: Dr. Qiang Liu
Time: Tuesday and Thursday, 12:30–1:45 p.m.
Location: Avery 347

Description: Multi-access edge computing is a disruptive paradigm to extend the cloud computing capabilities to the network edge, which converges the communication, networking, and computing, and provides low-latency and high-bandwidth access to network resources. This course covers fundamental architecture, distributed algorithms, killer applications, open problems in multi-access edge computing. This course is intended for students who are interested in exploring state-of-the-art, doing research, or pursuing a career in the field of edge computing. This course is structured as a combination of lectures and research seminars, where each topic will be introduced and presented by the instructor, students, or guest lecturers. The main topics of interest include augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR), autonomous driving (AV) and vehicle-to-everything communication (V2X), Internet of things (IoT), 5G and Beyond, machine learning, and block-chain. At the end of this course, students are required to deliver a research project and the corresponding paper that leverages the edge computing capability as an individual or a small team.
