University of Nebraska–Lincoln School of Computing Ph.D. recipient Deepak Nadig is now an assistant professor at Purdue University.
Nadig will be teaching courses in cloud computing infrastructure and SDN, which are designed to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to build, secure, and use effective and efficient cloud computing systems and networks. His research focuses primarily on the interplay between software defined networks and network virtualization for developing secure and intelligent next-generation networks.
Nadig earned his Ph.D. from the School of Computing in August 2021. He was the recipient of the 2019-20 Milton Mohr Graduate Fellowship and received a Best In-session Presentation Award at the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications (INFOCOM).
Nadig said not only did his Ph.D. program prepare him for his new faculty position by helping him build research expertise, but it also offered him numerous opportunities for professional development.
“My advisor, Dr. Byrav Ramamurthy, provided constant guidance and support throughout my Ph.D. journey, and I am truly fortunate for the opportunity to work with him,” Nadig said. “I also had a great group of colleagues and friends at Netgroup who were invaluable to my Ph.D. experience.”
In 2018, Nadig was a fellow of the Preparing Future Faculty (PFF) program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. As part of the program, he participated in various activities concentrated on professional development, teaching portfolio development, and understanding new faculty roles, expectations and experiences.
Nadig also said the university’s Center for the Integration of Research, Teaching and Learning (CIRTL) provided him with opportunities to understand and develop STEM teaching skills.
He actively participated in various CIRTL courses and seminars focused on evidence-based STEM teaching, using qualitative methods, understanding and addressing bias, diversity and inclusion, and faculty advising.
“I firmly believe that these experiences and opportunities helped prepare me well for my new position at Purdue University,” Nadig said.
Congratulations to Deepak Nadig on beginning this exciting new chapter of his career!
