An Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAV) Workshop was held at the East Campus Union on June 14 and 15. The event was sponsored by UNL's Office of Research and Economic Development.

The workshop focused on the future of UAVs and consisted of topics covering sensing optimization, grasping technology, surveillance and intelligence, national security, international law, and application of force and accountability.

Lectures were given by CSE professors Sebastian Elbaum, Carrick Detweiler, and Matthew Dwyer. Other speakers included Tim McClain of Brigham Young University, Mark Bateson of the M1 Consulting Group, and James Forrest, a Senior Analyst at U.S. Strategic Command.

Unmanned Air Vehicles are an exciting part of the research being conducted in the CSE department. The NIMBUS Lab, which is run by Elbaum and Detweiler, focuses on UAV development and worked in conjunction with the Senior Design class last fall.
