This note is a seasonal reminder from Professor Berthe Y. Choueiry, CSE Library Liaison, about:
1. CSE Permanent Reserves at the Math Library in Avery Hall
2. Online resources at the UNL Library
3. Book acquisitions from the UNL Libraries

1. CSE Permanent Reserves at the Math Library

The CSE Permanent Reserves are books and reference materials made available to CSE students in the Math Library, which is located in the basement of Avery Hall (south entrance), to help them prepare for the PhD Qualifying Examinations and also in their coursework.

Books and materials can be checked out and used only within the library. They cannot be taken out of the library or kept through the night.

This service is graciously offered by the librarian and the CSE faculty/instructors for your benefit. If you would like more books to be added to the collection, please approach the relevant CSE faculty. They will try their best to add to the collection.

2. UNL Libraries Resources

There are many books, periodicals, and electronic services (including journals) relevant to CSE majors.

You can access UNL libraries online at iris.unl.edu.

Also, regularly check the "New Acquisitions" shelf of the Math Library in Avery Hall where new books are displayed.

3. Requesting a Book Acquisition

CSE can request the acquisition of new books in CS or CE for research. The books cannot be: software/language manuals or introductory CS/CE textbooks. The process for requesting a new book is as follows:

1. Check on iris.unl.edu to make sure that UNL does not already have the book.
2. Email Professor Choueiry a request using the following format:
TITLE:
AUTHORS/Editors:
ISBN: (*very* important field)
PUBLISHER:
3. Professor Choueiry will recommend the book for acquisition only if it is relevant to CSE education or research.
4. The Library acquires the book if sufficient funds are available.
5. The new book will be displayed at the "New Acquisitions" shelf of the Math Library in Avery Hall.

It is your responsibility to ensure the book is not already at UNL before you send your request.

Please do not hesitate to contact Professor Choueiry at choueiry@cse.unl.edu if you have any questions or comments.
