National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program: Spring 2023 Information and Begin-to-Prepare Sessions

When: Thursdays, February 9, 16, 23 and March 2, 2023, 5:00-6:30 PM

Where: Brace 105

Who should attend (registration not required):
• Current Sophomores interested in research and graduate school
• Current Juniors and Seniors who plan to apply to graduate school in Fall 2023 or beyond
• Current first-year Graduate Students who did not apply for an NSF GRF in fall 2022
• Also invited: faculty and staff working with student applicants

Everyone invited:
• February 9 – NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program overview
• February 16 – How to be a competitive NSF GRFP applicant

Especially for students who will apply for an NSF GRF in fall 2023:
• February 23 – Personal Statements
• March 2 – Research Statements

Applications are due each October: The NSF GRFP is a competitive and highly prestigious fellowship for students pursuing research-based graduate degrees in the basic sciences and social sciences. Fellows receive a $37,000 stipend plus tuition for 3 years at the graduate program of their choice. Students who begin to prepare early will submit more competitive applications.

NSF GRFP Eligibility: US citizens and permanent residents applying to US graduate programs in any of the basic sciences and social sciences supported by NSF (i.e. not research focused specifically on improving human health or agriculture).
