International Women's Day (IWD) is a global day celebrating women's social, economic, cultural, and political achievements. This day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality. IWD has occurred for over a century, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by over a million people. This day, typically held on March 8, is supported by organizations, groups, governments, and individuals worldwide who are committed to a more gender-equal world.
More information about IWD can be found from here.
This year the University of Nebraska Lincoln’s College of Engineering is highlighting IWD by hosting events on both the Lincoln (March 8, 5-7PM in Othmer Hall) and Scott Campus in Omaha (March 9, 5-7PM in PKI). More information on the event will be forthcoming. The worldwide theme for this year is #EmbraceEquity.
We invite you to fill out the form to let us know ‘What does International Women’s Day mean to you’, as well as an optional embracing picture.
Please submit the response and/or the picture by Monday, March 6.
