Bevins participating in Student Research Slam tomorrow

Student Research Days is an exciting opportunity for undergraduates and graduate students to present their work to audiences in their discipline and beyond. The Student Research Slam on Thursday, March 28, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Wick Alumni Center, 1520 R St.

School of Computing graduate student Alisha Bevins will participate in the event.

Please register to attend. The Slammers will present short, engaging talks about their research, and attendees will vote on their favorite presentation.

The Slammers and their topics:
• Anika Azme, graduate student, environmental engineering: "Forever Chemicals vs. Light-Activated Materials"
Alisha Bevins, graduate student, computer science, "Magical Motions: The Power of Non-Verbal Communication in Robotics"
• Micah Fullinfaw, senior, emerging media arts: "Exploring Uncertainty"
• Lincoln Graham, junior, emerging media arts: "My Liquid Latex Life"
• Ryleigh Grove, sophomore, plant biology: "In the Garden of Discovery: A Scientist's Evolution"
• Alyssa Grube, graduate student, chemical engineering: "I Taught Myself to Knit When I Was 11"

In their brief, engaging presentations, Slammers are challenged to discuss what their 11-year-old selves would find most exciting or surprising about the research work they do today.

The event is sponsored by the Office of Research and Economic Development. Lunch is included.
