Lang joined the School of Computing when it was named the Department of Computer Science and Engineering 22 years ago in April 2003. Prior to joining the school, Lang worked in several other positions and departments across the university. She was first hired as a student worker in the Department of Educational Administration in 1980 before taking on a full-time role as clerical assistant in the Department of Grants and Contracts, now the Office of Sponsored Programs. She transitioned to another clerical assistant role in Human Resources in 1987 before becoming an administrative assistant in a new Office of the Vice Chancellor, Extended Education, in 1999. She briefly worked in the dean’s office in the Teachers College, now the College of Education and Human Sciences, in 2002 before finally joining the School of Computing as an administrative coordinator the following year.

Lang is a previous president of the University of Nebraska Office Personnel Association (UNOPA). She received a bachelor’s degree in administrative resource management from the university in 2001.

Outside of work, Lang enjoys gardening, crafts, golf, attending flea markets and garage sales, and helping at her church.

Lang’s retirement reception will be held on Thursday, Oct. 23 from 3:30–5 p.m. on the second floor of the Schorr Center. Lang will remain on call to assist the school before officially retiring in January 2026.

Lang is a friend to everyone in the School of Computing, known for her friendly personality, helpful attitude, and well-planned, enjoyable events that bring members of the school together. She will be greatly missed by School of Computing faculty, staff, and students who can always count on her for professional and personal support.
