Cameron Adkins, a senior computer science major at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and a U.S. Navy veteran, has been named a 2026 NVLF Leadership Fellow by the National Veterans Leadership Foundation. Adkins recently represented Nebraska at the organization’s national Leadership Forum in Columbus, Ohio.
The highly competitive fellowship recognizes exceptional military-connected student leaders from colleges and universities across the nation. Throughout the multi-day forum, fellows strengthened their leadership skills, built connections with peers, and explored new ways to expand support for military-connected students on their campuses.
Selected through a rigorous national nomination and review process, Adkins was recognized for his commitment to service, leadership, and community impact. As an NVLF Leadership Fellow, he will help advance programs and resources that strengthen the experience of military-connected students at UNL. The 2026 cohort of 23 students represents college and universities from across the United States.
“It was inspiring to connect with students from across the country who share a passion for service and leadership,” Adkins said. “I’m excited to bring fresh ideas back to UNL and help strengthen support for our military-connected community.”
Each participating institution nominates outstanding student leaders, including veterans, active-duty service members, National Guard members, reservists, ROTC cadets, and military family members. Adkins is minoring in National Security Studies and served for eight years in the U.S. Submarine Force as a radioman/IT. He is also a Work Study Mentor with the Military and Veteran Success Center.
