A recent program on NPR focused on the need for more computer science students.
The program highlighted some facts that are sure to be encouraging to computer science students. Among math and science jobs, 60% of those are computer programming roles, whereas only 2% of math and science students are computer programmers. By 2020, there will be 1 million more jobs than computer science students.
The program's website, http://code.org, is focused on bringing awareness to the need for more computer science students, but is also useful for those already enrolled in a degree program. Check out the website for great resources and encouraging facts. There are online tutorials, a mobile app developer, and free online university courses. It also features volunteer opportunities, such as Coder Dojo, TEALS, and SocialCoding4Good.
