First-Year Experience & Transition Programs is currently planning the First Husker program. First Husker is comprised in part of 100 first-generation first-year students in a new orientation designed to give them a great start to their UNL experience.

They are looking for five first-generation students to serve as peer mentors for the program. The commitment is from August 12-August 19 with a stipend of $750.

The qualifications are the following :

-First-generation student
-3.00 GPA or higher
-Involved in at least one extracurricular campus activity
-Experience working with others in a leadership or mentoring role
-Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
- Dependability
-Comfortable speaking in front of large groups
-Proficiency with social media, taking and posting photographs online
