There is an undergraduate bioinformatics web/database programming job available with the School of Biological Sciences & Center for Plant Science Innovation. The primary responsibility will be to develop and maintain a bioinformatics project website.
Depending on his/her interests, the student will have flexibility in designing the web interface and database for integrated data visualization and can be involved with developing data mining pipeline and tools. Linux is the primary programming environment. Experience with MySQL is also preferred. The project involves with next-generation sequencing data analysis of multiple plant genomes (de novo assembly, transcriptomic data analysis, functional analysis, gene networks). Ample research opportunities (e.g., UCARE application, Independent Study) exist for enthusiastic undergraduate students.
