Software Engineering Internship

Virtual Incision
Virtual Incision

Virtual Incision (VI) Corporation is a privately-held medical device company focused on developing an advanced, miniaturized robot for general surgery. Propelled by the knowledge that colorectal and lower gastrointestinal procedures are the fastest growing in the United States, Dr. Dmitry Oleynikov and Dr. Shane Farritor founded Virtual Incision in 2006 as a spin-out of the University of Nebraska. The company is currently headquartered at the Nebraska Innovation Campus.

They are currently seeking software engineering interns to help work on their next generation miniature laparoscopic robot. Interns will work as a team and with your supervisor to develop code for the robot as well as creating a toolset for ease of future code development.

The available projects require the use of either C++, Python, LUA, or MATLAB. Candidates should be excited about developing new architectures that allow for robust code that is easily extensible, and should understand that documentation is a way of life.

C++/LUA Interns will complete training on a GUI building program called StoryBoard, made by Crank Software (http://www.cranksoftware.com) and will work with a VI engineer to architect and develop an interface to link GUI development software with our own proprietary VI Software.

MATLAB/Python Interns will work to develop tools for internal VI use to be used for robot data analysis and code maintenance.
