The University of Nebraska–Lincoln offers a large number of books and periodical resources that are relevant to both Computer Science and Computer Engineering students, as well as a wealth of *electronic* services, including journals. Students and faculty members are encouraged to check the "New Acquisitions" shelf, where new books are displayed on a regular basis, in the Mathematics Library in 14 Avery Hall. You can access UNL Libraries on-line at http://iris.unl.edu.
The Computer Science & Engineering Department's Library Liaison, Dr. Berthe Choueiry, would like to remind you of three important services provided to students by UNL’s library system:
CSE Permanent Reserves
Instructors and faculty can make available many books and reference materials pertaining to CSCE courses and the PhD qualifying exams. These resources can be found in the Math Library located in Room 14, which is the basement of Avery Hall (south entrance). Books and materials can be checked out and used only within the library; they cannot be taken out of the library or kept overnight. UNL Libraries and the CSE faculty/instructors graciously offer this service for your benefit. If you would like more books to be added to the collection, please approach the relevant CSE faculty. We will try our best to add to the collection.
Acquisition of New Books
We can request the acquisition of new books in the Computer Science or Computer Engineering fields for research purposes. The books cannot be software/language manuals or introductory CS/CE textbooks. The process to request a new book is as follows:
(1) Check iris.unl.edu to be sure that the UNL Libraries system does not already have the book;
(2) Send an email to our Library Liaison at choueiry@cse.unl.edu requesting the book, using the following format:
TITLE:
AUTHORS/Editors:
ISBN: (cannot be processed without this field)
PUBLISHER:
(3) The CSE Library Liaison will recommend the book for acquisition only if it is relevant to CSE education or research;
(4) UNL Libraries will acquire the book if sufficient funds are available;
(5) The new book will be displayed at the "New Acquisitions" shelf of the Math Library in Avery Hall.
If you have any questions or comments about UNL Libraries, please contact the CSE Library Liaison, Dr. Berthe Choueiry, via email at choueiry@cse.unl.edu.
