Hour of Code

Join CSE members at Nebraska Innovation Campus this Saturday, Dec. 3 from 9 a.m. to noon for the Hour of Code.

The Hour of Code is a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to demystify code and show that anybody can learn the basics. Students of all ages can choose from a variety of self-guided tutorials, for kindergarten and up. Tutorials work on any modern browser, tablet, smartphone, or even with no computer at all. Code.org’s own tutorials feature Star Wars, Disney’s Frozen, Scrat from Ice Age, Angry Birds, and Minecraft.

CodeLNK.org is the place to register for Hour of Code and where you will find more computer-science learning opportunities all year long!

Bring your own device and get ready to learn how to code! Don't have a device? You can still code! Laptops will be available in limited quantities for those unable to bring their own device, courtesy of AIM and Interface Web School. Mentors will be on hand to help guide you through the tutuorials.

Not only will you learn the basics of code, you can also learn about all the cool things you can do with computer science! Come check out our Interactive Tech Fair, featuring Glass Cannon, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics UNL Chapter Rover, Makeshift, The Children's Museum, Wearable Tech, LPS Vex Robotics, LPS Dot and Dash Robotics, and a live coding demo!

Bring out the whole family to see how fun coding and technology can be! The event is free and open to the public. Parents must accompany children. On the registration form, register one adult and list the other attending family members on the form. Only one registration form per family is needed.

Brought to you by the Lincoln Partnership for Economic Development, Nebraska Innovation Campus, Lincoln Public Schools, UNL Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Turbine Flats, #LNK Coding Women, and CSTA Nebraska.
