The ACM ICPC Local competition will be held this Saturday, Oct. 6 in Avery 20 and 21, meeting at 10 a.m.

If you are interested in participating, please send your team name, the names of your three team members and each member's email address to Jeff Ifland jifland@cse.unl.edu this week.

Practices in the form of problem solving seminars will be held every Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in Avery 352. All are welcome.

They are open to anyone who is interested in competing in computer programing competitions, or who would like to strengthen their problem solving skills, algorithm design, or algorithm implementation abilities.

For the competitions, we primarily focus on the ACM ICPC contest that leads to a world level competition at a different location each year. Last year we had a team travel to China to compete as one of the top 140 teams in the world.

The ACM ICPC competition requires a team of three students. They have access to one computer, and over 5 hours they try to write programs to solve as many problems from an original problem set as possible.

If you are interested in competing or have questions about any of this, please contact the Head Coach, Jeff Ifland jifland@cse.unl.edu
