The Social Network Research Group (SNRG) is building a distributed system for social network data collection, analysis, and public health intervention as part of its ODIN Project.

SNRG is looking to hire two motivated and creative part-time software engineering interns to be part of the project’s dynamic Android development team. If selected, you will begin by familiarizing yourself with the system and code, and then help us improve ODIN by coding full stack end-to-end automation tests in Java.

Qualified candidates will be students at University of Nebraska-Lincoln with an interest in a software development and/or testing career.

Requirements: (1) Ability to write clear, readable, and maintainable code, especially in Java (2) A working knowledge of object oriented programming paradigm (3) Ability to communicate technical information clearly (4) Being comfortable using a command line interface.

Responsibilities: (A) Document ODIN’s distributed system architecture and design new tests for it (B) Write and document Android Java code, with an emphasis on full stack end-to-end automation tests (C) Document test settings and test plans (D) Monitor test outputs and address defects observed (E) Improve our automation infrastructure.

The Social Network Research Group (SNRG) is also building a distributed system for epidemic simulation as part of the MABUSE Project and looking to hire two motivated and creative part-time software engineering interns to be part of the project’s dynamic Simulator development team. If selected, you will begin by familiarizing yourself with the system and its code, and then help us by developing software modules for MABUSE in C#.

Qualified candidates will be students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with an interest in a software development career.

Requirements: (1) Ability to write clear, readable, and maintainable code, especially in C# (2) A working knowledge of the object oriented programing paradigm (3) The ability to work on programming problems for several hours at a time (3) Ability to communicate technical information clearly (4) Being comfortable using a command line interface.

Responsibilities: (A) Document MABUSE’s distributed system architecture (B) Write and document C#, scripts, and Javascript code.
