The George Eliot Archive
The George Eliot Archive

The George Eliot Archive Project is seeking an undergraduate research assistant for the 2019-2020 academic year and beyond.

Join the digital humanities project where you will gain excellent experience managing and expanding two simple, related websites, the George Eliot Review Online, https://georgeeliotreview.org/ and the newly created George Eliot Archive, http://georgeeliotarchive.org.

The primary duties include maintaining and updating the George Eliot Archive and George Eliot Review websites. This may include working with the Omeka platform (similar to Wordpress) and JavaScript to create and update site content.
Through this position, you can expect to create and maintain data visualization projects like the interactive relationship web and chronology.

Most of the projects requiring you to have an in-depth knowledge of fundamentals of programming have been created, and your job will be to maintain and update them as needed.

Documentation on these projects has been created, and the previous UCARE student who has worked on them will be available to contact for any help.

Skills and platforms you will be working with:
· JavaScript (D3.js library, jQuery framework)
· HTML/CSS
· Omeka
· Basic PHP

Start: Fall Semester 2019 (or earlier)
Compensation: Payment through UCARE funding
Hours per week: 20

To be considered for an interview, send an email summarizing your experience to Dr. Beverley Rilett at brilett2@unl.edu. Applications will be accepted through the end of February.
