Daktronics is hiring a software design intern for its Brookings, South Dakota location.
Responsibilities: Every day, in nearly 100 countries around the world, millions of people depend on Daktronics scoring and display systems for information and entertainment. Daktronics displays provide vital travel information in airports and train stations and along highways. They advertise the price of gas, store specials, and more as you make your daily commute. They also enhance spectators’ experiences at sporting events of all kinds, from Little League to the major leagues.
At Daktronics, you will put your degree to the test using cutting edge technology to trouble shoot and test production code for high-end video processing used by real customers. As a software intern, you will write code to enhance existing Daktronics software components by adding features or tracking down and fixing bugs. You will actively engage in business transactions and experience the satisfaction of knowing that something that wasn’t working yesterday is working for our customer today because of your software solutions and problem-solving skills. And sometimes, you will even see your work on national television!

What would I do?
As a Daktronics intern, you will work with a team of developers and professionals to design, develop and deliver software solutions to various Daktronics customers and business groups. You will primarily focus on:
• Application development: Enhancement and maintenance of applications and solutions along with design and development of new software applications using Microsoft Visual Studio
• Programming languages: A majority of work would be done in the C#, JavaScript, and Typescript software development languages
• Team Collaboration: Work within a larger development team to solve problems
• Testing and documentation: Write unit tests for existing code along with assisting in the development of software product requirements and design documentation
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed to support the efforts of Daktronics
Qualifications:
Academic Requirements
• The ideal candidate will be a fulltime student of at least junior status currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor's degree program in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
• Required GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered for this internship
• Required to take a semester off from school to pursue the internship. Duration of internship will be a summer and a semester or a semester and a summer.
• Work through the Cooperative Education/Internship Program at your accredited university and faculty coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this 7-month internship
Other Requirements
• Object-oriented programming knowledge is required. Knowledge of C++, C#, or Java preferred, but other object-oriented languages are acceptable
• Ability to work with a team to solve problems
• Ability to communicate well with others via written and verbal communication skills
• Planning and organizational skills
• Dedication and desire for quality performance. Fluent in English, both written and verbal
