The Department of Computer Science is encouraging students to study abroad in Japan from June 4 - July 6. Locations include Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, Kobe, Mt. Koya, Mt. Fuji, Ito, Kamakura, and Tokyo. The course will focus on Japanese religion and modern culture. Students will have the opportunity to visit Buddhist temples and shrines, climb Mt. Fuji, experience the urban life of Osaka and Tokyo, and visit the Mishima Yukio museum.
The course counts for 3 credit hours in MODL 298/RELG 222. The estimated cost is $3,500, which includes airfare, accommodation, admission to museums, and major ground transportation. Scholarships are available through Scholarships and Financial Aid in 17 Canfield Building. Grading will be based on a 10-page paper and a portfolio of sites visited.
