1. Visit with your professor about your progress in the course and determine your current grade in the course.
2. Ask yourself: What are the consequences of changing my schedule? Why am I in this position? Have I given the course work my all and used the resources available? What will I do differently if I take this class again?
3. Additionally, scholarships and financial aid can often be affected by course withdraws (please contact the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid at 472-2030 with questions). Health and auto insurance can also be affected if a withdraw causes a student to fall below full-time student standing (12 hours).
4. Professional schools do not want to see patterns of withdrawals – so if a student wants to drop a class to protect the GPA but the actual grade in the class will be a C or greater, the student would probably impress the professional school more by taking the grade and moving on to a more advanced class (if the foundation is there) or taking a difference class in the same subject.
