Gilman Scholarship Information Session

The U.S. Department of State’s Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship is a grant program that enables Pell-eligible students to study or intern abroad. Awards of up to $5,000 for study abroad program expenses (airfare, tuition, room and board, etc.) are offered, plus an additional $3,000 for the study of a Critical Need Language.

Post-Graduate Opportunities in the UK

There are several extremely prestigious national overseas awards that are due next fall (most around early October), but which have a campus deadline this semester (April 15).
All are for graduate study in the United Kingdom. All require a very high GPA and a focused career goal with an undergraduate career that has included extensive extracurriculars, research, study abroad experiences, relevant internships, etc. All also require an interview – so you have to be personable as well.
The Rhodes Scholarship: for study at Oxford for two years
The Marshall Scholarship: for study at any UK institution for up to two years. If you are proposing a research degree, you will need a letter of support from the UK institution.
The Gates Cambridge Scholarship: for one year of study at Cambridge (any field). It is an excellent idea to have a letter of support from an academic department.
The Churchill Scholarship: for one year of study at Cambridge in the STEM disciplines. You MUST have a letter of affiliation from a Cambridge lab supporting your application.

Fulbright Information Sessions
Wednesday Feb. 19; Thursday March 12; Thursday, April 2; and Wednesday, April 8

Fulbright Awards support graduate study, research, or English teaching abroad. Grants are awarded to graduating seniors, alums, and graduate students in all academic fields and in the creative and performing arts. It is never too soon to explore the Fulbright website and meet with Dr. Damuth about this extraordinary international exchange program.
Applicants must hold a B.A. degree or the equivalent before the beginning date of the grant. Fulbright grants provide round-trip airfare, language or orientation courses (where appropriate), tuition (in some cases), book and research allowances, maintenance for the academic year, supplemental health and accident insurance, and, in some cases, funds for spousal support.
