Dear Students of the College of Engineering,
As we near the end of Spring Break, I wanted to reach out and give you a few updates on what is happening in the College of Engineering as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic. I realize there are still many questions about this situation that remain unanswered and that this creates additional stress for you in uncertain times.
First and foremost, please be assured that the top priority of the College and the University is the health and safety of its students, faculty, and staff and that decisions are being guided by the University of Nebraska Medical Center, a world leader with respect to COVID-19. We are fortunate to have such expertise close by.
As you know, starting Monday, March 30, all classes taught by the College of Engineering will be taught remotely. This is true for classes that were originally offered on City Campus and East Campus in Lincoln and on Scott Campus in Omaha. If you have not heard from your instructors yet, you will soon. Please be sure to check Canvas regularly for updates.
The college has created a website with information specifically for students, faculty and staff regarding COVID-19. Please check this site (link below) frequently for new updates and announcements, including information concerning financial aid concerns, remote advising, events, etc.
This is a significant transition, and University and College faculty and staff have been working tirelessly to make it as smooth as possible. There will no doubt be glitches, and I want to thank you in advance for your patience and collaboration as we all work together to ensure that the remainder of the semester is academically satisfying.
Finally, I invite you to join me and members of my leadership team for a virtual “Office Hours with the Dean” on Thursday, March 26 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Central time (see article below). I will give some additional updates then and do my best to answer any questions you may have.
I hope that you and your families are healthy and safe.
Sincerely,
Lance
