UNL Engineering, Law graduate speaks Nov. 19

The Value of A Patent? [Why Bother to Get One, and How to Read It If You Do] is the topic of a brief discussion of the advantages that patent ownership can provide, how the the US patent application process works, and how to read a US patent.

This noon program is geared toward Engineering students but also serves as a great background for law students who will likely encounter intellectual property and patent issues in their law practice at some point even if it is not their focus area.

Presenter James L. Young is a graduate of both the UNL College of Engineering and the College of Law. He is a partner with Westman, Champlin & Kelly, P.A. in Minneapolis, Minnesota and has more than 30 years of experience obtaining, licensing, evaluating and enforcing patents. He has also developed an extensive practice regarding the clearance, registration, licensing and enforcement of trademarks.
