The UNL-UNO National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) hosts a Community Leadership Banquet: Oct. 21, in the Regency Room of UNL's City Campus Union, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Dr. Makola M. Abdullah, provost and vice president of Academic Affairs at Florida Memorial University, will speak on the theme: “Striving for Academic Excellence and Being a Positive Role Model.”
Tickets for the event are $5 for students, $7 for non-students, or $40 for a table in advance; $8 for students and $10 for non-students at the door. Finally, the NSBE students are also hosting a fundraising raffle for 2 Husker Football tickets (UNL vs Michigan State on Oct. 29). The drawing will be held at the NSBE Leadership Banquet. The winner does not have to be present to win. Entries are $5 each or two for $8 and can be purchased from a NSBE member or at the event. Funds raised will support travel to the 2012 NSBE National Conference in Pittsburgh, PA.
NSBE is working to develop programs that promote awareness of minority engineers and scientists and ameliorate the educational experiences of our members:
“To increase the number of culturally responsible Black engineers who excel academically, succeed professionally and positively impact the community.”
