“Our panelists will focus on the social controversies surrounding the removal of racist monuments, mascots, and images and what they symbolize in the context of Black Lives Matter and the legacy of slavery and colonialism,” said Jordan Soliz, event organizer and professor of Communication Studies.

James Garza, associate professor of Latinx and Latin American studies and history; Kristen Hoerl, associate professor of communications studies; Casey Kelly, professor of communications studies; and Cynthia Willis-Esqueda, associate professor of ethnic studies, Native American studies, and psychology will make up a panel moderated by Sergio Wals, associate professor of ethnic studies, Latinx and Latin American studies, and political science.
