Colonialism & Racial Injustice in Kenya & South Africa: Experiences and Responses
This virtual program seeks to engage students with historical and present-day issues of racial injustice and oppression in Kenya and South Africa. Students enrolled in the course will:
a) Get a first-hand account of South African anti-Apartheid activism with former Robin Island prisoner Lionel Davis. [Mr. Davis served several years alongside former President and anti-Apartheid hero Nelson Mandela].
b) Learn from Mau Mau veterans on the struggle for independence in Kenya. [The Mau Mau movement was a nationalist armed peasant revolt that was formed in the early 1950s to rise against colonial rule in Kenya].
