LAMS 478 “Pro-Seminar in Latin American Studies: Mulatto Cultures? The Issue of Race in Cuba and Brazil”
This course will analyze how Cuban and Brazilian cultural production have dealt with the issue of race, covering novels, poems, and films from the 19th century to the 20th century. These creative works will be read alongside academic pieces that will help us understand how these countries’ ideology of racial miscegenation was historically constructed.
