Hi all!
Fall almost happened. But now we’re back to warm weather and I’m a little miffed about it. I am kind of ready to break out the sweaters and tights and boots, but alas. I shall need to wait until we’re through with joke summer.
Y’all, I think I am raising an old man. Or, I suppose, if I’m real honest, a 10-year-old version of my current self. Yesterday, when I got home from work, I made a comment about the absurd number of grackles on the lawn. Penelope comes barreling over the window, grunts, opens the door, steps out onto the front porch, and yells, “GET OFF MY LAWN!” And they totally did. Later, I asked her where something was, and you know what this girl tells me? She says, not looking away from her video game, “Up your butt and around the corner.” Then, cackling. She apparently learned this from her friends. I was both shocked and proud because this is something I said at her age and I’m quite tickled that the young’uns are keeping it alive. However, when I told her that she was not all that and bag of chips, she was confused. We’ve still got a little way to go until 90s slang comes back again…
