In the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the integrated science program has a multitude of benefits that offer students flexibility and empower them to carve their own pathway.

Integrated science students are able to create an individualized program of study by tailoring their classes to match their interests across multiple concentration and content areas. Students are assigned to a professional advisor and a faculty mentor who work with them to create a customized degree pathway and identify experiential learning opportunities to coincide with those interests.

Along with the flexibility to choose options that align with your passions, there’s flexibility to take advantage of online classes. Online degree completion can be done through creating concentration areas from our selection of online courses or by pursuing pre-defined online concentration areas.

We recognize that each student is an individual and we want our students to take ownership of their educational and career pathways. Integrated science is a great fit if students have diverse interests that they want to explore and develop skillsets in. Alternatively, integrated science can also be an ideal academic pathway when students have already established a very specific career vision and other program curriculum won’t cover the specific focuses that will uplift student’s ability to pursue that career.

Our integrated science major has empowered students to pursue various internships, from crop consulting to marketing and communications. Some of these students have gone on to pursue graduate education in areas of law, organizational management, plant pathology, and environmental policy. Other graduates have entered into careers such as an Extension Assistant for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, in agricultural production at Hoegermeyer Farms, as a Sales Associate for Pioneer Hi-Bred, and a Soil Conservationist for the Natural Resources Conservation Service.

Integrated science offers a breadth of opportunities to pursue your passions, take control of your education, and work with area experts to ensure you get to your goals.
