What to do about private lanes, private driveways, private roads

Homeowners and property owners who have had private roads, driveways, and lanes impacted by flooding events, may contact you to ask how to get help with their situation. You'll often hear us say "disasters are local" and this is also the case when trying to determine where these residents can get assistance, if they can get help.

Individuals can reach out to their local emergency manager to see if there is any possible funding for individual assistance. If assistance is available, it may be in the form of a loan. Property owners could also connect with the County Highway Superintendent as a technical resource who may also have connections with engineers and contractors who could make repairs.

The FEMA deadline for individual assistance has been extended to September 13 for those in eligible counties.
