Being a Trusted Source—Sticking to the Science

We are working in a rapidly changing world! As we lead and work in this dynamic space, we have a responsibility to our clientele and colleagues to maintain high quality and credible educational programs.

Since its beginning, extension has delivered research-based knowledge. We are a trusted source of information and education at the local, state and national level. Our mission is “Helping Nebraskans enhance their lives through research-based education.”

In our rush to provide information and education online it may be tempting to adopt and/or share content from sources that are not research-based. Let’s not lose sight of one reason that Nebraska Extension is a respected educational leader. Our reputation is grounded in science that underpins our programs and products.

Only research-based programs and products should be shared with clientele. Who are the trusted sources of such content in your programming discipline? Certainly research-based content from our own institution, other land-grant universities, USDA, etc. are solid sources. There are other trusted sources as well that your respective programming teams will need to vet prior to adopting.

During New Extension Professional Orientation we emphasize “Sticking to the Science.”
