From FEMA Region VII, National Preparedness Division:

Dear Preparedness Partners,

With September being National Preparedness Month, you have probably been busy promoting disaster preparedness through your social media. Reaching as wide an audience as possible helps create a culture of preparedness.

To that end, we would like to invite you to participate in a Twitter Microburst at 10:00 AM CDT/9:00 AM MDT, September 22, 2020. A Microburst is a localized, planned social media event that coalesces around specific hashtags. The goal is to tweet out messages that promote actions that can be taken to prepare for disasters and use any or all of the following hashtags: #MidwestReady #NWS #RedCross #NPM.

If you would like to participate in the Microburst, you can:

1. Compose one or more tweets ahead of time that you would like to send out at 10:00 AM CDT, September 22, 2020;

2. Schedule your tweets to automatically send at the specified time and date if you use tools like Hootsuite or Tweetdeck;

3. Share this message with the partners in your network in order to promote the Microburst.

Attached are examples of Twitter messages you can use, or feel free to create your own. Our goal is to get as many people as possible to participate in this Microburst and use the hashtags in order to bring the message of preparedness to Region 7!
