The application/nomination form for membership in the Nebraska Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) interest group is now open. Applications/nominations will be accepted through February 26. During the January 27 Extension Huddle (https://myextension.unl.edu/extension-huddle), we shared that a disaster team was assembled in response to the 2019 floods. We appreciate the dedication and effort of those team members! After an evaluation in fall 2020, we made a decision to transition the team to a formal Nebraska Extension interest group. We see this an opportunity to create a statewide network of Extension professionals – a group that’s dedicated to positioning our organization to respond to disasters, provide support to our disaster-impacted colleagues, work with Nebraska Extension’s state and regional partners and key stakeholders, and learn together. For more information, check out the Nebraska EDEN page: https://disaster.unl.edu/nebraska-eden-0
If you are looking for an opportunity to serve others, use and grow your skills, and collaborate with your colleagues in meaningful ways, we encourage you to apply. Similarly, if you have a colleague in mind who would be a great fit for Nebraska EDEN, complete the nomination form, and we’ll follow up with them.
We encourage you to consider this opportunity! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us.
Ashley Mueller, Soni Cochran, and Mike Bergland-Riese
